What a difference a few weeks makes.

Yesterday, the Ibrox surface was looking great – almost back to its very best as can be seen from the image below.

Over the last month with a gradual increase in temperature as well as more light, the pitch has been able to recover significantly, providing a boost to manager Steven Gerrard who is on record regarding the deteriorating condition of the surface over the winter months.

At the Dundee United game in February, the live Rangers TV commentary spoke of the flock of birds present on the pitch – feasting on the grass seed.

Visiting Royal Antwerp manager Franky Vercauteren also commented on the pitch a couple of months ago, but now just around six weeks later, the Ibrox turf is showing strength and looking good.

It will also benefit through the end of season run-in with hosting only one game per week, as is more or less the case.

Rangers will play at Ibrox on at least three of the next four weekends – it will be four if Celtic are defeated in the next round of the Scottish Cup.
