Opinion: The excitement has been great, but we need to forget this transfer – there’s no chance

Rangers have had a wonderful transfer window this January so far but we cannot get too carried away with ourselves.

Whilst the arrivals of Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis have underlined we are back, we do need to be careful that we don’t get too fantastical.

And, as much I would love it to happen, I cannot for the life of me see Adam Lallana joining our club.

Not because he wouldn’t want to – I have no doubt he’d thrive up here with Steven Gerrard – but because Liverpool surely won’t want him to go.

He might not have played much this season but they need all the options they have as they go for the Premier League and few players do what he can in their squad.

It’s nice that the bookies – via the Scottish Sun – think that we’re in the pound seats for his signature but it doesn’t seem likely to me, that’s just my opinion.

I’d happily be wrong here though!
