Rangers have a huge battle on their hands to be able to secure the Scottish title this term,  but it’s far from impossible. The progress that was made over the summer, and over the last few months has been huge, and so who is to say that Gerrard’s men won’t get even better?

Fortunately for the Gers, the January transfer window is on the horizon, and according to Sky Sports, one man that they want is Gillingham striker Tom Eaves. They’re reportedly tracking him.

He’s currently playing in League 1, so it would be a big step up for him, but he’s enjoying a remarkable campaign for Gillingham. A very stellar return of 13 league goals this season highlights his efficiency going forward, with the 26-year-old emerging as one of the Football League’s most potent attackers.

On top of his goalscoring record, he offers a solid work ethic, good energy, mobility and great link-up play, though it must be said, his goalscoring outshines everything else.

You could argue that Rangers don’t need a forward, given Alfredo Morelos’ presence, and that’s fair argument given his goalscoring record this term. However, it’s no good relying on someone like Morelos if he’s not available due to suspension. Having already picked up 3 red cards this term, that’s clearly a major worry for the Gers.

That, combined with the sheer quality that Eaves possesses, makes the attacker an ideal target for Rangers. Rangers have been one of the best goalscoring teams in the country this term, and so the thought of adding another lethal attacker to the mix could take them to the next level.
