Michael O’Halloran has echoed the thoughts of manager Mark Warburton following the defeat to Livingston last night.

Losing the game one nil and dropping points for the third straight Championship game, a disappointed O’Halloran told the Official Site in his own post game press conference that the players themselves knew it hadn’t been an acceptable performance at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

He also admitted there had been some strong words in the dressing room before he came out for the interview.

‘We are really disappointed with how we performed and everyone is really down in the dressing room, and we will need to look to go again when we get back into training. We won the league and did it well, and beat Celtic with a great performance, so maybe it`s natural that be downed tools – but that isn`t acceptable at a club like Rangers. We haven`t won any of our last three league matches, and that isn`t good enough, so we have to put it right. We had a lot of the ball as we usually do, but we have to be more ruthless and there are perhaps more times when we can pull the trigger instead of passing. But, that said, tonight was not acceptable.’

With O’Halloran playing down the middle on the night, he knew he could’ve done better but he did say he was still adjusting following his January arrival, and the position and requirements Warburton wants from him there are new, so he will improve.

‘I`m still learning how all the positions work here. It`s a relatively new formation for me which I am just getting used to. As long as I`m in the team though, that`s all that`s important to me.’

With the final Championship match of the season on Sunday against St Mirren, O’Halloran admitted the players would be giving their all to get back to winning ways ahead of the Scottish Cup Final against Hibernian on May 21.

And on a personal level with him cup tied for the game, he wants to make it up in the next league game as it will be his last showing of the season, if selected.

‘It`s massive for both me and the team. We have to go and put our recent results right and get a win before we move into the Cup Final. The lads are desperate now for Sunday to come around and for us to do the business.’
