Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been named the club’s Player of the Year at our annual awards ceremony, as announced on the official website.
With 29 goals this season season there has obviously been no-one better in Steven Gerrard’s squad from a playing perspective, although his discipline issues mean some are unhappy with his selection for the honour.
Morelos has received five red cards this season and a massive amount of yellows too, letting down his teammates and supporters at critical moments of the season in big matches.
With contenders like Allan McGregor, James Tavernier and Ryan Kent also emerging, some reckon that Morelos should have been passed over for the award.
Ultimately no-one has contributed more to our season than the Colombian, so for me the decision to give him the honour makes complete sense, even if his discipline problems do need to be sorted out.
These fans took to Twitter last night to share their thoughts on it all…
Should’ve been @James_Tavernier or @therealgreegsy1 ????

Surprised and not surprised, would say his discipline has let him down a lot and maybe could have went to McGregor, Arfield or Kent imo

Morelos has scored a lot of goals, but in terms of bursting a gut for the team, giving 100% in everything, running on empty at the end of every game he plays through sheer effort @scottyarf & @Dcandeias11 are my joint #POTY
