Some Rangers fans see potential in Motherwell winger Jake Hastie after watching him in action against Steven Gerrard’s side on Sunday.
The youngster’s raw pace and ability was on display against the Gers and although he was ultimately frustrated by Jon Flanagan and the Rangers defence before being substituted off, some have seen enough to say he is worth a free transfer move this summer.
Last month, the Gers were reported to have been close to signing him on a pre-contract basis, but it appears that deal could now be off.
The Herald reported last week that we have pulled out of the deal.
Scoring six goals since bursting into the Motherwell team in January, Hastie certainly appears to have plenty of potential.
Gerrard’s tactics yesterday clearly specifically marked him as a threat, so he is likely a fan, or at least recognises the threat he can pose in Scottish Premiership matches.
Still just 20 years old, there’s plenty of improving to do, but considering he would not cost a transfer fee should we make a renewed push to sign him this summer?

Are we still in for Hastie? He looks a tidy wee footballer

3-0, solid performance, Arfield was sublime.
Just need to keep winning, see who's really up for being here, and see where we're needing to make changes.
That wee Hastie would be worth a punt.

He is and will become even better. You notice how many players we flooded around him? That tells you everything you need to know about what the management think of him.
