Over the weekend Rangers saw themselves linked with Croatian international defender Borna Barisic.

The 25-year-old left sided defender is a familiar face owing to his performances for Osijek in our recent Qualifying Second Round ties in the Europa League and he was a man who impressed plenty across both games. The attacking threat he caused down the left flank was an issue of concern for fans and in praising the player for his showings, it led to plenty picking him out as the major threat for the Ibrox tie – and in turn wanting Daniel Candeias back in the squad given his more defensive ethic to help protect James Tavernier.

Whether the speculation has come directly off the back of already coming in for praise from the fanbase I don’t know, but the Daily Express reported on Sunday that we had levelled serious interest in the player and Steven Gerrard was determined to bring him in.

He has three caps for his country but missed out on their World Cup squad out in Russia and it’s believed he could be available for as little as £2million which could well be a bargain.

Few are against such a deal.
