By now, on the fourth day of pre-season training, Nnamdi Ofoborh will be getting a taste of life at Rangers and he is determined to grab the opportunity with both hands.

The 21-year old, London-born player has severed ties with Bournemouth, but he paid tribute to his former club in an emotional message on social media.

On his own Instagram account, Ofoborh stated:

“As this chapter in my life closes, I just want to thank AFC Bournemouth for taking me in at 16 and helping me grow into the player I am today.”

“Team-mates who have turned into brothers. I wouldn’t change it for nothing. Thank you.”

“Thank God, I can’t wait for this next chapter… let’s go!”

One of those ‘brothers’ will be alongside side him at Auchenhowie in the form of Jack Simpson, who joined the club last January.

Having had a taste of action over the last few months, this pre-season will also be a critical one for the central defender.

Potential

As for Ofoborh, he finished last season with a second spell at Wycombe Wanderers, having been frozen out at Bournemouth prior to his pre-contract agreement with Rangers.

Given the deal that was signed, the player must be valued by Ross Wilson and Steven Gerrard so it is up to him to make the most of the move to unlock his significant potential.

Time will be on his side, as there will be no massive expectations in his first season in Scotland, nor is he likely to be a first pick.

Capped three times at U20 level by Nigeria, the powerful central midfielder will also join a growing Super Eagles contingent at Ibrox, poviding a boost to his profile, with full internationals Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo firmly established, as well as Calvin Bassey pushing for a spot on the left flank.
