Rangers produced a limp performance at Hampden on Sunday, defeated 1-0 by Aberdeen in the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup.

It means that Steven Gerrard’s side have missed out on the first chance of major silverware this season, marking the first real failure under the management of the Liverpool icon so far.

The performance was bitterly disappointing, with the side failing to look like they could trouble the Aberdeen goalkeeper at all throughout the 90 minutes.

One of the players most criticised was Umar Sadiq, who was called into the side with Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty both unavailable for the fixture.

The Nigerian loanee from Roma looked well off the pace, constantly being caught offside and failing to offer any attacking threat. It’s now clear why he’s barely been seen in a Rangers shirt so far this season.

Fans were fuming with his display and took to Twitter to have their say…
