Let the soul searching begin.

The latest frustrating result of many in recent years came on Sunday as Rangers lost out to Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden.

The Dons emerged as 1-0 victors thanks to a late set-piece, with Steven Gerrard’s side failing to produce a performance that we’d expect in a run-of-the-mill match never mind a huge national semi.

Even though Gerrard has picked up his fair share of positive results since joining this season, it’s clear that there’s huge improvement to be made if we are ever going to compete for major honours.

One player singled out for his poor display was James Tavernier, who didn’t lead by example as captain and and show the passion required to get through tough tests like today’s.

Some fans are even calling for a change to be made with regards to his captaincy.
