Rangers won an epic battle of wills in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night, overcoming Aberdeen 4-2 at Pittodrie to pick up all three points.

With Celtic also winning at home to Hibernian, it was an absolutely crucial result and keeps the Hoops within sight at the top of the league table.

A double from Alfredo Morels, a James Tavernier penalty and a fierce Jermain Defoe finish in stoppage was enough to secure the victory and send the away fans home very happy indeed.

In a match that saw a player from each team sent off, Steven Gerrard’s side had to dig deep to hold on to their winning margin, with the performance of Ross McCrorie standing out as crucial to the win.

The young defensive midfielder was outstanding throughout and it’s clear he is rapidly maturing into an elite player.

Rangers are far more secure in the middle of the park when he’s playing and there’s no way he should be dropped for upcoming matches.

Fans couldn’t get enough of his performance and took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
