Odds on, Morelos going nowhere

Type in “Morelos Sevilla” into Google or whatever search engine you use and you’ll be bombarded with a host of articles claiming that the Colombian international is heading to Spain.

Welcome to the transfer window.

The real story, is that there is no story. All that’s happened is that one media outlet – who shall remain nameless – has looked at the bookmakers odds for where Alfredo Morelos could next be playing his football and Sevilla are at the top of the list.

With just a year left in his current deal he could well be sold this summer, however, despite numerous rumours over the years, there hasn’t really been many concrete bids other than from Lille in 2020 when a £16.25 million bid was rejected.

Sevilla is just one of many clubs who have been credited with an interest but, as with in the past, there has been nothing to suggest that a move is imminent.

Morelos has spoken in the past about wanting to move to a better league but Thursday night football can be quite addictive given the level of performance he frequently seems to be able to produce on the biggest stage.

It’s one of many “what ifs” from last season, would we have been able to go one step further if we had Morelos available in the final? We’ll never know but i wouldn’t have backed against him making a difference.

Out of the players who are in the last year of their contracts Morelos is one of the ones I think will extend his stay. Giovanni van Bronckhorst came in and made him the main man, his upturn in form wasn’t a coincidence and he clearly loves it at Rangers.

It’s been a while since El Bufalo was linked with a move so I suppose a rumour was due, I’m just not sure I was expecting one that is based on little other than guesswork.
