Alfredo Morelos is set to spurn the advances of Porto and lead Rangers assault on the Champions League, according to a report in his homeland.

The Colombian international, currently on duty in the Copa America, has been the subject of increasing speculation recently with the Scottish press claiming that he, and his agent, are to meet representatives of the Portuguese giants when he returns to Europe.

Antena 2 Deportes is a Colombian media outlet and has published an article claiming that the 25-year old is going nowhere this summer with the opportunity to play in Europe’s elite competition too hard to turn down:

“Morelos would have in his plans to stay, at least for one more season, in Rangers with the aim of playing the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

“Despite a juicy offer from Porto of Portugal, the chances of overcoming the previous rounds and accessing the Champions League group round motivate the Colombian to remain in the Glasgow team and face the contest with Steven Gerard as a coach.”

Rumours of a £10million bid from Porto will be laughed off pretty quickly by Ross Wilson, double it and they might have a better chance though.

How many players do Rangers have at the Euros this summer?

With Kemar Roofe suspended for all of the qualifiers, we really need El Bufalo fit and firing on all cylinders as soon as the season kicks off but as the club’s all-time leading European goal scorer, few would back against him once again delivering when it matters most.
