Alfredo Morelos was left behind due to his positive Covid result, as his Colombia teammates secured a 0-3 win away to Peru.

The very valuable 3 points sends the Colombians closer to the CONMEBOL qualification places for the World Cup in Qatar next year.

For Rangers Alfie, it is now a race against time to prove his fitness, for inclusion in the Copa America squad – with the tournament set to be held in Brazil despite the Covid situation in that country.

Morelos is again expected to miss out on the home WC qualifier against Argentina on Wednesday but he will be given his chance to get on the plane to Brazil.

As reported by the Daily Record, the national team manager Reinaldo Rueda has said that they will assess ‘El Bufalo’:

He stated, “Alfredo Morelos will be evaluated as soon as we return to Colombia when it reaches the tenth day he will have been in isolation.”

“He has been doing physical work in his own room and we will need to assess him then and do tests on him.”

“Based on the test results, we will make decisions on whether he can rejoin the squad.”

“At the moment he is in good health.”
