Mitchell Set For Loan Spell Again

Coach Ian Durrant has said that Andy Mitchell is more than welcome to remain at the club and fight for his place, but he feels another loan spell to get regular game time could suit him better given the competition we have in midfield.

Mitchell spent three odd months out with Annan earlier this season, playing 16 times and scoring twice, and Durrant has said that his opportunities will be limited at Rangers, so it may make more sense to return to the club – who are interested in having him back – so he can get more regular game time under his belt.

Speaking to the Official Site about the 21 year old, he said.

‘Annan have made it known to the manager they’re interested in taking Andrew back and it’s down to him if he wants to go, he can stick around and take his chances but without being disrespectful to him, they might be limited due to the personnel we have in the middle of the park. From my point of view, I think it would be a benefit for Andrew to go back there and keep playing for the next few months. He’s getting a good calibre of game at Annan.’

Having signed a one year deal at the end of last season, Mitchell is out of contract at the end of this campaign and if a loan deal is arranged it will run until football in 2013-14 finishes, but Durrant says if he does go out it doesn’t mean that is automatically the end of his time with us because he can earn himself a new contract again by impressing at Annan should he choose to leave.
