Andy Mitchell is hoping he can impress Ally McCoist enough between now and the end of the season and earn himself a new contract.

The Northern Irishman played the full 90 minutes in the game against Linfield starting at right midfield and ending at left back.

Speaking to the Official Site he said.

‘Most of us are wanting to show the gaffer what we can do. I’m out of contract in the summer and the league is already won, so I would hope to get a few chances. I relished every minute against a team from back home and it was fantastic that I played the full 90 minutes.’

He adds that it was also brilliant to see McCoist give so many youngsters game time in the second half.

He also adds that it was an honour to be made captain of the second string, and he’s hoping it all shows he deserves a future with the team.
