Just when Alex McLeish thought the heat was off him for a while along comes another dodgy result and calls for his head are back bigger than ever!
Towards the end of last year, Alex McLeish was under intense pressure after Rangers worst run of results in many years.
David Murray gave him five games to turn things round and while the results were rather mixed, the BIG result was against FC Porto and the qualification for the last 16 ultimately saved his job.
Since then, results have been better and Rangers seemed to be turning things round. BUT they came crashing back down to earth with a thud after ANOTHER 3-0 defeat to Hibs at Ibrox.
As if losing 3-0 at home to Hibs wasn’t bad enough, this also ended Rangers’ best chance of winning a trophy this season and the fans are angered by this.
So much so that a few hundred of them staged a protest outside the ground on Saturday. It is clear they are not happy and not only do they want McLeish out, they want MURRAY out and the board as well.
Fans are incensed that Murray failed to deliver on his promise to bring in new signings in the transfer window and they feel that he has been lying to them.
Planet Rangers believe that there is a major announcement round the corner which could be a huge boost to Rangers financially and could provide money to bring in fresh blood in the summer.
Alex McLeish will not be a part of these plans and he is certain to be out of a job come summer time.
It is clear however that David Murray needs to make this announcement sooner rather than later before his relationship between himself and the fans is broken beyond repair.
