Barrie McKay will remain with Morton for the remainder of the season after his loan was extended the other day.

He joined the club initially on a one month loan just prior to Christmas, but he’s impressed in his appearances with the side, so the decision has been taken to continue getting him good first team games so he can come more into manager Ally McCoist’s plans for next season.

Speaking to the Official Site after the extension was all agreed, he said.

‘First team football was a big factor. I really want to play and need to be at my age. I’m happy at Morton so there was no point going back to Rangers and not getting a sniff. If I’m out playing games it will benefit me and Rangers in the long run.’

The player goes on to say that his hope obviously was that he will return to Rangers now in the summer a much better player, with greater experience, and he appreciated McCoist’s honesty that he’ll be better served not returning at this moment, but doing all he can to impress for next season.
