Kenny McDowall has hailed the Rangers squad this season for scoring their 100th league goal of the campaign in the comprehensive four nil victory over Stenhousemuir yesterday.

Goals from Stevie Smith, Dean Shiels and Lee McCulloch set up Nicky Law to score our fourth of the day on 78 minutes, but importantly our 100th of our League One campaign this year.

Speaking to the Official Site following the match, our assistant manager could hardly contain his delight with both achievements.

‘It’s a difficult pitch here but the boys were very professional and the level of goals we scored was great as well. The supporters are happy which is important for us. They keep turning up so we need to keep giving them good performances and I felt we did that. We scored four and it could have been a lot more.’

Speaking more about the game itself, McDowall said it really was all credit to the players because they did fantastically well over the 90 minutes, and he was also delighted to see Nicky Law get back on the score sheet but obviously the overriding celebration at full time was in marking a century of goals in the season, knowing we could well – should – add to it before the season is over.

He also had praise for Dean Shiels at full time in a different interview carried by the official site as well, as he got himself back on the score sheet.

‘Deano is a clever player, he’s got a good football brain. We’re delighted for him.’

Finishing, he also nodded to debutant Charlie Telfer as the 18 year old was making his senior bow for us in the game, when the young midfielder came on the pitch as Shiels replacement.
