Lee McCulloch has said he was delighted when he heard that Rangers were drawn at Ibrox in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup because he knows what a boost the fans will be for the players on the day.

Being drawn against Albion Rovers every possible advantage we could have has gone our way, but speaking to the Official Site as he gave his reaction to the draw, McCulloch said any kind of complacency ahead of the game and in the way we prepare would see us fall foul of an Albion side who have already made a bit of a name for themselves so far this campaign.

Despite us going in to the game as favourites, like us, Albion are yet to concede from their Scottish Cup games against Spartans, Deveronvale, Motherwell and Stenhousemuir, so they will be full of confidence and looking to cause an upset and we have to be prepared for that.

As manager Ally McCoist has said himself, our match against them in the Ramsdens Cup counts for nothing this time round, as both teams have grown and developed further, so it will be a different encounter.

‘I’m delighted to get a home tie, but it’s going to be a difficult game. They’ve got a good manager and a decent team and no doubt they will come to Ibrox and make it difficult for us. It’s a game we definitely don’t think we’ve won already before we’ve played it. It’s going to be a challenge but we’re looking forward to it.’

With Aberdeen pulling off a shock in their 2-1 victoyy over Celtic, McCulloch adds that they are now the favourites for the overall competition, but in saying that if we perform how we are capable of performing then we are an outside bet, but ultimately that is down to the players themselves and how they respond on the day.
