Lee McCulloch has admitted that taking the Third Division title this season has proven to be harder than he expected it to be.

Speaking to the Official Site after seeing Rangers grab the title a fortnight ago, McCulloch had to admit that it had been harder than what he was expecting, and he knows that at points during the season we haven’t done ourselves full credit or lived up to the weighty expectations…but at the end of the day we have reached our aim, with games to spare and we are one step closer to being back to where we want, and many would argue, deserve to be.

‘It has definitely been harder than we thought it would be and I don’ mean that to be disrespectful to teams. I think the expectations were we were going to win 4-0, 5-0, and 6-0 every week. We knew that wasn’t going to be the case, but we thought we’d have done a bit better.’

McCulloch says that with the youngsters in the dressing room, many people would say it’s no different than being at a club like Dundee United, but he assures fans it’s completely different at a club like Rangers, with the expectations of everybody associated with the club – let alone the 48 odd thousand in the stadium every home game ‘believe me, it’s much, much harder.’

He ends the interview by saying that if Rangers can open up a 27 point gap at the top of the table, then he truly believes the players can give themselves a good pat on the back for that they have achieved this season, despite the underwhelming moments.
