Lee McCulloch has said he was delighted to see Rangers end their tour of North America with two victories as he feels now that results have turned in our favour it will be the catalyst for more to come.
Nicky Law’s strike after 38 minutes in the game against Ottawa was enough to separate the sides, and it brought he curtain down on the tour that saw us face Ventura County Fusion, Sacramento Republic, and Victoria Highlanders previously, and Jig told the Official Site that he believes it was good preparation for the coming Championship campaign.
‘It’s a great way to finish the tour, going back home with a positive result and positive performance. I think a couple of our performances at times in the games have not been what they should be but I thought (tonight) right from the kick off and through the first half we totally dominated. Maybe in the last 20 we sat in a little bit and didn’t put enough pressure on the ball, but other than that the first 70 minutes we dominated and it was a great test. Now we head home to look forward to some important games.’
With Law winning the game against Ottawa with his strike, McCulloch was quick to point out the efforts of Lewis Macleod in the build up to the goal.
‘Wee Lewis was outstanding. He was out on the left, through the middle and out on the right of midfield and it just shows the versatility he has got. It was a great bit of skill before he played it back to Nicky.’
Ending the interview McCulloch admits the only disappointment the players felt following the game was that they all knew we should’ve won by a greater margin really, and it could’ve been a three/four niller at full time if we had taken our chances and been a bit sharper and more composed in front of the net.
He also said, that although he’d need to watch a replay, when Kenny Miller had the ball in the net in the second period and was ruled offside, for him looked clearly onside because he thinks it took a deflection off the defender that the referee missed – but it wasn’t the only strange refereeing decision on the night for him either.
