Ally McCoist has said that it’s fantastic for Rangers to not only have good business heads on board, but also somebody with the heart of Rangers such as Walter Smith in his new position as Chairman of the club.

Speaking to the Official Site with his first response to the earlier news, McCoist joked that he had spoken to our new chairman and he’s almost been given instructions on how to bow before him when they meet face to face next!

‘I’ve spoken to the chairman. He was in fine form. He has just stopped short of telling me I have to bow when I see him now! I don’t know what else there is for that man to do. Is he after Tiny’s job? I think Mary Gallagher had better watch herself in the kitchen next. All joking aside and being honest, it’s great news. I’ve said all along we need Rangers people within the club leading.’

McCoist says the perfect mix is good business people with a core of good Rangers’ people so the mix is right for the whole club and the supporters as we push forward to get ourselves back into the SPL.

He also names others he’d like to see back in the interview such as John Greig because one of the key things he says we have lacked so far is a common vision and stability in the boardroom and he believes Smith will be key to fostering that kind of stability to allow the team and club to move forward as one.
