Rangers manager Ally McCoist will have talks with owner and chairman Craig Whyte to see if he has any money to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

McCoist has identified players he would like to bring in to the club to try and strengthen the team and get back to the top of the SPL but needs to see if Whyte will sanction any moves.

McCoist said: ‘We’ve got one or two players, in an ideal world, we would like to bring in. We just have to wait and see what happens. We’re ready to go if we can go. I’ll sit down in the next few days and have a good chat with Craig and see where we are.’

The Rangers manager is almost certain to want to bring Kris Boyd back to the club. Boyd would not cost anything in terms of transfer fees because he is a free agent so it would just be a matter of finding the money for wages.
