Manager Stuart McCall admitted that he was relieved more than anything else with our Play Off Semi Final aggregate victory over Hibernian this week.

Having won the Ibrox leg two nil, we were in a good position for the trip to Easter Road and despite losing that leg one nil, we had done enough to book our place against Motherwell in the Play Off Final to decide our 2015-16 fate.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, he explained.

‘I`m relieved and delighted, probably proud as much as anything. Disappointed to lose a goal in the last minute because I thought the lads did well. Alan has built a good side though. He brought a lot of good fresh faces in the January transfer window and they put us under the cosh like we thought they would do. That`s our fourth game now and to win through today was going to be about guts and character and team work and togetherness and that`s what we got.’

With a very bright opening from the opposition on the day, McCall went on to say that having seen that period out, he felt we had taken the sting from them as they would’ve been desperate for an early goal, and then we saw it through more in many ways with greater control – but of course the 90 minutes as a whole could’ve been easier for us.

He also acknowledged in the final 25 minutes it was the fans who dragged the players through the match so he was delighted for them.

The time for celebration wasn’t however now.

‘We`ve done nothing yet, so there`s no celebrating. It gives us an opportunity. It keeps the season going. I was a little bit disappointed that we didn`t get our foot on the ball a bit, but once we got some possession we quietened the crowd down and had a couple of opportunities on the break ourselves. All in all it was a game that I thought might go as it did. We said the first goal wasn`t the important one, it was the winning one and thankfully Kenny Miller`s at Ibrox has been that one.’

He ended by saying that he felt it would be wrong for him to pick out anyone in particular for their performances as so many of them out there deserved a ‘tick’ in their box for the performance, and it was a true team effort in his eyes and in reality it needed to be.

‘We`ll regroup now and re-energise and be ready to go on Thursday.’
