Rangers have confirmed that Dave Kind is our new chairman as expected, and John Greig has been named as Honorary Life President of the club.

King takes over from interim chairman Paul Murray, who took the role when the board was formed back at the General Meeting on March 6. Following his passing by the SFA, a board meeting the other day confirmed King’s announcement and appointment as our chairman moving forward.

A statement on the Official Site read.

‘It has taken much longer than any of us had anticipated to bring about Board changes but we have achieved that and I am deeply honoured to become the Club`s Chairman. This is a privileged position and I do not accept it lightly. Our Club is a massive one, a great Club and it is my intention to make sure Rangers will now move forward with confidence and great optimism.’

King once more also called for patience, as the new board look to turn things around.

‘It might be some time before we are able to shelve some of the appalling things that this Club has been subjected to. It is important to remember the events of recent years to ensure that they are not repeated but it is equally important not to dwell on them. Rangers has to build towards a brighter future and none of us should be in any doubt that a lot of hard work will be required.’

As for Greig, our former 18 year long player has already been named as the club’s Greatest Ever Player, being the inspirational captain who lifted the European Cup Winner’s Cup back in 1972 with a three two victory over Moscow Dynamo in the Final, and he played in three Treble winning teams.

His honours at the club include five Championships, six Scottish Cups and four League Cups. He also captained Scotland, winning 44 caps. He also obviously enjoyed his time as manager with us.

In his own interview, he explained it was a tremendous honour.

‘It’s a tremendous honour and one that I am very proud of. When I think back to the many great people who have passed through this club over the years and if this was available in their time, they would have also been very strong candidates. I am very humbled by the appointment.’

Dave King said himself.

‘We are absolutely delighted that John has agreed to accept this position. He epitomises what this club should always be about. I think it’s very important that he is seen. Certainly in my view, he represents the history of the club and he represents the value system that I think we all want to take the club back to. I see that as the more iconic and symbolic status of having John Greig and having someone who represents the fullness and the richness of the Rangers experience.’
