Rangers are showing interest in bringing NK Osijek striker Mirko Maric to Ibrox this summer, as reported by The Daily Record.

The paper say that the Croatian, who has one two senior caps with his national team, has caught the attention of Gers Director of Football Mark Allen after an impressive season.

The club are said to have scouted him consistently over the last few months.

The 23-year-old has scored 17 goals and assisted six more in 39 appearances this term, showing the kind of potential that could make him a long-term replacement for Colombian forward Alfredo Morelos.

The report states he is valued at around £3m and that Rangers could be boosted in their attempt to sign him given the club’s relationship with player agency Argentum Sport.

The Croatian market was one we utilised last summer of course, bringing Nikola Katic, Eros Grezda and Borna Barisic to the club with mixed success.

Maric certainly appears to have the kind of talent and experience that could make him a big success in the Scottish Premierhsip, so let’s hope Allen’s scouting team have found a winner and can get the deal done.
