Rangers fans were hugely impressed by attacker Glenn Middleton tonight despite the U20s side losing in the Glasgow Cup final at Celtic Park.

The young Gers side were operating at a higher age level than last week’s Scottish Youth Cup final and struggled up against a strong Hoops team for the majority of the match.

Finding themselves 2-0 down at half-time, Graeme Murty’s side had to dig deep to mount a comeback and did exactly that, with Middleton scoring two absolute belters to pull the team level almost single-handedly.

Sadly winning the silverware was not to be, with Celtic nicking the win right at the death through Robbie Deas.

Fans were nonetheless encouraged by the performance of Middleton who is in exceptional form for the development squads right now.

He had plenty of senior action in the first half of the season but has barely featured so far in 2019.

Many are calling on him to get a renewed run in Steven Gerrard’s first-team, believing he’s improved enough to be relied upon in coming matches.

These supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his progress…
