Reliable journalist adds late update on Rangers Souttar situation

|

John Souttar will almost certainly not be signing for Rangers in this transfer window.

That is the latest on the potential deal according to Jordan Campbell of The Athletic with just over an hour of the transfer window remaining.

Souttar’s future already lies at Ibrox following the pre-contract agreement confirmed earlier this month but it appeared that there was scope for a deal to be done to bring the player along the M8 early.

With Rangers said to have lodged three bids of up to the £400k mark, Hearts have stood firm insisting that their valuation of the player (given the situation) had still not been met.

They will think arguably their best player is worth more if they can secure third place in the Premiership even though he will depart Tynecastle for nothing at the end of May – that is the scenatio they are willing to let happen.

Meanwhile, for Rangers it would have been beneficial to get the Scotland international in early but it isn’t a requirement just now. Filip Helander is back in full training with Leon Balogun also not far from contention again.
