Rangers enjoyed the perfect Sunday stroll with a 5-0 hammering of Hearts at Ibrox which saw the Light Blues close the gap on Celtic to just one goal difference at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Steven Gerrard tinkered with his starting line-up bringing Scott Arfield back into a central midfield position alongside Steven Davis and Juventus target, Glen Kamara.
Arfield has yet to recover his form of last season that saw him score 12 goals and have 7 assists and has only hit the net on 2 occasions this term.
Gerrard reported that the Canada captain has been suffering with an off the field issue and supported him in the best way possible, by backing him to return to form.
Arfield was outstanding in a deeper role against Hearts and was instrumental in the build up to two of Rangers goals.
Who should play alongside Ryan Jack and Steven Davis in the cup final?
Joe Aribo
Glen Kamara
Scott Arfield
Gers fans were delighted to see him back to his best and took to Twitter to congratulate him on a fine performance.
Too easy to say Hearts are poor, I thought we were solid throughout today & made the game look comfortable. 2 shouts: 1) Arfield was much much better & should start next week. 2) Barasic who niw refuses to go back in his shell after a mistake, he’s becoming a really potent threat

Arfield had his best game in a while today. Hopefully gives him a confidence boost going forward.

Middle three were terrific today, thought Kamara was MOTM personally. The best Arfield’s played in a long time as well.

Best I’ve seen Arfield for a while for sure. And Stewart has done himself no harm whatsoever when it comes to the next few games

Gerrard trusts Arfield on the big occasions and few would be surprised if he lines up in next weekend’s blockbuster Old Firm league cup final.
