It may be an international weekend but the action (of sorts) continues at Ibrox with Jorg Albertz amongst a host of legends who are set to grace the Ibrox stage once again.
The Hammer will be joined by the likes of Barry Ferguson, Lorenzo Amoruso, Ronald de Boer, Sasa Papac, Nikica Jelavic and more in the latest installment of the club’s ‘Match of Legends’.
The Rangers line-up will play against a World Legends team made up of players from the UK and abroad but most in attendance will be there primarily to see their heroes of bygone years.
It is a great, relaxed opportunity for families to attend Ibrox together as much as it won’t whet the appetite of all supporters on a weekend where other matters will take priority.
However, Albertz is relishing the chance to get his boots on, once again on the pitch and within the stadium that holds so many happy memories for him.
The German hero told Rangers official website:
“I’m looking forward to the game, and that means that you meet all of the players again and have a chat about everything, about the past and the present. I can’t wait.”
“The most important thing for me when I am looking ahead is to step into that tunnel again and run out on that pitch in front of these beautiful supporters. It’s just a dream. It always has been a dream and it will be one for the future as well because of the history of all the players being there.”
“It’s always great to come back and see everybody and run out onto that pitch.”
That moment will be warmly welcomed and acknowledged by the fans in attendance at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.
