Rangers legend John Greig has resigned as non executive director. Former chairman John McClelland has already signed, They become the second and third directors to resign in the past week.

Last week finance director Donald McIntyre stepped down as a director but stayed on as an employee. It is a worrying development when you consider the tax hearing is coming up next montb.

Rangers owner and chairman Craig Whyte said in a statement: ‘These resignations have been communicated by letter to the chairman, Both were of the opinion that since the change of ownership they have been excluded from participating in corporate governance at the club.’

John Greig is a hero amongst Rangers fans and was voted the greatest ever Ranger in 1999. He played 755 times for Rangers between 1961 – 1978, scoring 120 goals. He collected five championships during his time, several domestic trophies and captained Rangers in their European Cup Winners Cup victory in 1972.

The legend also had a stint in charge of the club as manager between 1978 – 1983. His time in charge was not quite successful as a player. In his time as manager he won two scottish cups and two league cups. The hall of famer returned to the club in 1990 as a public relations officer and became non executive director in 2003.

It is a sad day indeed to see him leave his home again. Rangers will be a poorer club without him. John McClelland meanwhile will also be huge loss as he is one of Scotland’s most distinguished businessmen.
