Rangers manager Graeme Murty has confirmed that Ryan Jack is set for surgery on his knee and confirmed that Danny Wilson is close to leaving the club.
Jack is set for an extended spell on the sidelines with the 25 year old picking up a knee injury during the win over Motherwell on December 27 and Sky Sports have Murty confirming that surgery is the option now after further assessments.
‘He will be having surgery on his knee. It didn’t present that way initially but he will be out for an extended period. It’s premature to say he’ll be out for the season but we will make sure that we get the prognosis after his surgery. We’re mindful of his long-term recovery.’
Ross McCrorie however does not need surgery on the injury he picked up, so will only be sidelined for a few weeks and not months as originally worried.
‘Thankfully the specialist thinks it’s just a matter of time. He doesn’t need surgery, he won’t need an injection. It’s just a question of being patient with it and waiting until any inflammation and pain symptoms go away. It’s quite difficult putting the reins on a 19-year-old that has been playing for Rangers’ first-team. To tell him he has to rest, it’s quite frustrating for the guy, but we have to make sure we safeguard his long-term future at the club. He understands that, as painful as it is for him at the moment to miss out.’
As for Wilson, Murty wouldn’t confirm the speculation linking him with a move to MLS side Colorado, but he did confirm the player was undergoing a medical ahead of a move.
‘Danny has options. Until those options are concluded and we have a definitive answer, that will stay in-house.’
