Gareth McAuley started his first match for Rangers on Saturday, helping the side to a 3-0 win over Livingston at Ibrox.
After a long comeback from injury, McAuley was finally trusted by Steven Gerrard to take a place alongside Connor Goldson in the heart of the defensive line.
The Northern Ireland international impressed during the international break for his country after coming off the bench to shine in the 7-1 rout of Motherwell.
Now he’s set to string together an impressive run of form after strolling through the game against our visitors on Saturday. The veteran looked like he’d been playing for the club for years such was his composure.
The hope is he can remain injury free, which itself will be a task considering the heavy upcoming schedule for the club at home and abroad.
Fans have been absolutely delighted by his impact, with many taking to Twitter this weekend to share their thoughts…
Gareth McAuley actually looks better than I thought he’d be.

Gareth McAuley is a great defender, when the famous signed him, I said if he plays all season without injury we win the league, unfortunately he hasn’t started the season but I still firmly believe if he plays the rest of season, we win the league. #Rangers #Champions 😉☺️ #55

Gareth McAuley should be goldsons partner at cb as long as he's fit. Strolled through the game & a half he's played & showed leadership we've badly lacked. 38 or not he's a better option than Katic & Worrall in my opinion..!!
