Holt’s Quality Praised

Not that Mark Warburton had any concerns about Jason Holt anyway or he wouldn’t have brought him to Rangers in the first place would he!

A positive from the one-all draw at Livingston last Saturday was a fifth-goal of the season from former Hearts midfielder since he arrived at Ibrox, not that a point away from home should ever really be considered ‘a negative’ should it as a win wouldn’t, at least it shouldn’t have been, ‘taken for granted’ should it….

Consistency is something Warburton’s told rangers.co.uk Holt has worked at, with this his main concern when he signed him – he had no doubts about his quality – but his hard work has paid off with the Rangers boss praising him when he said.

‘He’s maintained a level of consistency which is first class from Jason. There is no doubts about his quality.

‘He had to work on that consistency side of his game but you look at the goal; to run from our own half, to sprint past two of the opposing defenders and to finish at speed with that technique is job well done so to speak.

‘So delighted for Jason, he’s really achieved a great level right now and he’s in a good place.’

Has this adaptation to being a Rangers player, and how quickly he’s managed this in his 18 appearances so far ‘surprised’ Warburton? This question was asked of him and he, as you would expect, gave the answer he wasn’t!

Warburton added he’s backed him to have a ‘great season’ for Rangers.

‘No, he hasn’t surprised me. We’d never sign players here we didn’t think added value on and off the pitch. But he’s tremendous every day in training, he comes in and he applies himself so well, as all the boys do.

‘He’s well-liked by the group and with the work ethic, the commitment and the quality he shows there is now reason why he can’t have a great season for us.’

Having scored some ‘vitally important goals’ for Rangers already, with him pushing on from midfield with runs that have seen him ‘find the pockets’ the Gers boss is hopeful this will ‘continue’ going forward.
