Jason Holt was interviewed following the Queen of the South victory and as well as talking about his own leveller, he had praise for Martyn Waghorn who can’t stop finding the net this season.

Speaking to the Official Site after bringing Rangers back on level terms with his second half strike, the player explained.

‘It’s always nice to win any game and I think that we just had to be patient today. We eventually got the goal and it was a special day for us because we all wanted to dedicate a win to the girl Rhya (Story) who passed away earlier in the week. We battled ever so hard for the win today and we just wanted to do that for her today.’

The game had been dedicated to her ahead of the match.

‘I was delighted to get the goal today and like I`d said in the pre-match notes, I`d like to get more goals this season. I`m just delighted to get one today and to help the team. I think that we`ve showed again like we did in previous games that we`ll keep on fighting. Teams will come here and try to frustrate us and it`s just down to us and we`ve done well today in the end.’

Moving onto Waghorn and his current run of form in the game, he admitted that seeing him miss the penalty was a bit of a surprise given the form he’s in, but he more than made up for that with the late winner.

‘He might have missed the penalty, but you can`t fault Waggy because his record before that has been brilliant. Like we always say, we will always keep going right until the final whistle and we`ve proved that again today by getting the late goal again.’

An important thing for Holt was the fans following the game, as even though the 90 minutes didn’t go our way, they stayed behind the team and he felt the celebrations at full time showed the fans just how much they care.

‘I think you could see that from the way the players and the fans reacted at the end of the game that we are really up for it. It was great to get the win at the end and brilliant to see that from the look on everyone`s face.’

With Livingston next in the Petrofac Cup on Tuesday evening and the knowledge that St Mirren await in the next round, he added quickly.

‘We take every league game or cup that we play in very seriously. It`s another game that we are looking to win and we`ll prepare for it in the exact same way.’
