Clint Hill has been speaking about his growing partnership with Rob Kiernan at centre half.

Having played the last five games together, Hill told the Official Site that he felt they were starting to show good signs of a partnerhship now, as their understanding of each other grows game by game, and the 38 year old experienced defender believed that both could teach the other a few tricks or two, as they look to cement their place in the starting eleven under Mark Warburton.

‘There has been a fair bit of chopping and changing in the centre-back position and in the whole team, if I`m honest, no one has really cemented their place. Fingers crossed Rob and I have struck up a partnership but we need to be on our toes because we have Phillipe and Danny back in training now. Hopefully Rob can learn from me, I am just a humble guy who works hard and tries to do his best for the team, I hope people can look at that and follow it. I like Rob, he is a great lad and he has everything you need, he is strong, he`s quick and he is good in the air so he has everything you need to be a good defender. If I can help him along the way then that would be fantastic for me.’

Hill went on to say that despite his wise old age, obviously there were things he could still learn in the game from Kiernan as well.

‘I can learn from him as well, it`s about striking up a partnership and just playing games with each other in training and in competitive games. Then you form a bond and you know what players are going to do and where they are going to be at certain times of games and you can react to it. The longer that partnership goes on then the better it will get.’

With Senderos and Wilson returning to training as referenced above, following their time out with injury, Hill knows competition in the backline is going to be hot once more and that just means with them two breathing down necks, it will push further improvement, as both he and Kiernan want to keep their spots.

‘We know if we`re not doing the job then someone is going to set in and take the shirt, it is hard at the moment but we have two lads behind us who want it as well. I have had that kind of pressure throughout my career, I have had £12 million players come in and try and replace me. Playing for this club now there is pressure every day, pressure to perform in training and pressure on the pitch so that is just part and parcel of the job.’

He ended by saying.

‘I`m not sure why Rob and I do well together, previously I thought Danny and I played well, I haven`t played with Phillipe yet. I thought Danny and I did well in the few games we played together then unfortunately I had to drop out through illness and Danny got injured.’
