Giovanni van Bronckhorst has declared himself excited with the prospect of more to come from his team, following the excellent win at Tynecastle on Sunday.

After six games, the report card reads very well. A 100% record is in place from four SPFL Premiership games with a further win and a draw from the two Europa League games played under the new regime so far.

In Edinburgh, two terrific first-half team goals from Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo, respectively, gave the champions a grip on the game and they never looked back. To their credit, Fashion Sakala and Connor Goldson were pivotal in the build-up to both of the strikes.

After the break, Rangers weathered the Hearts storm at times, enjoyed some luck as well as squandering chances of their own but the win was secured. That led to GvB heaping further praise on his troops, as told to RTV after the game:

“It is hard work for everyone – I think they (squad) were very open to getting in some new ideas and working hard in training but also, in team meetings to make sure we are doing the stuff we want on the pitch.”

“You can see, the more we train and the more we talk with each other, the better we become, but we still have a lot of things to do and to work on, but we have time and I am really happy with the past weeks.”

Evolve

GvB knows that this is just the beginning, without players of ‘his own’ to be added to the group.

He will be delighted to have secured six points from the difficult away games in Edinburgh this month and now the incentive of three consecutive home games lies ahead. If Rangers continue in the same vein, that will produce nine points ahead of the massive festive week meetings with Aberdeen and Celtic, both away.

From the outset of this month, 18-19 points would have been projected as the target from the tough seven league games in September and with nine of those secured already, things are looking very positive.

It is clear that the players are buying into what Gio is doing and the re-set has revitalised them, more December delight appears in store for the boys in blue.
