Rangers starting line-up against Dundee today has left supporters wondering if there will be an alteration to the shape in this important Scottish Cup quarter-final clash.

Gio van Bronckhorst’s selection is as follows:

Jon McLaughlin,  James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Fil Helander, Calvin Bassey, Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara, James Sands, Aaron Ramsey, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos.

On the bench we have  – Allan McGregor, Mateusz Zukowski, Leon Balogun, Borna Barisic, Leon King, Charlie McCann, Alex Lowry, Amad Diallo, Scott Wright, Kemar Roofe, Fashion Sakala.

There was some expectation that a couple more changes would be made and the likes of Kent and Morelos to have been given a rest. Hopefully that is the case as just a precaution with Joe Aribo and John Lundstram ahead of the massive return game in Belgrade on Thursday.

A second start for Ramsey is very welcome and given the make-up of the other midfielders today, is Gio about to roll the dice with a 3-5-2 today?

This could be Sands supporting Goldson and Helander in defence with the two wide men Tavernier and Bassey given license to bomb forward as required. It appears certain that the on-loan Juventus man will not be operating wide right, more likely is that he will be deployed behind a front two of Morelos and Kent as they have been is recent Europa League games.

Kick-off is at 4pm so not long to find out in what is a must win game for the Gers.

Hopefully this one can be put beyond doubt early so that the full compliment of subs can be utilised.
