Vital Rangers would like to send it’s best wishes to Rino Gattuso who was blinded in one eye after a clash with his own team mate. The ex Rangers player had been experiencing vision problems before a clash with his own AC Milan team mate Alessandro Nesta.

The Rangers fans’ cult hero faces at least six months on the sidelines but has vowed that he WILL play again despite losing the sight in his left eye. He should take inspiration from ex Hibernian forward Dean Shiels who played on despite having an eye removed.

He said: ‘Football is my life. I will fight hard to return. The important thing is not to give up.’ The incident on 9 Sep 2011 caused paralysis of the seventh cranial nerve. He is currently suffering from double vision and can’t even do simple things like e-mail or drive.

However Doctor’s said he should be able to recover from the double vision and see normally out of his right eye and even return to playing within 2-6 months.

Gattuso added: ‘I’m a lucky man. Three weeks ago doctors told me there was a chance I might never play again, but now they are saying that is not the case. For a while I was scared about my health and worried for my life. But now I have undergone several tests I’m calmer. It’ll take more than this to beat me.’

Vital Rangers was saddened to hear about his horrific injury and wish him a speedy recovery.
