It has been reported that Rangers have failed in a £200,000 bid for Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty.
STV have reported that new manager Steven Gerrard was keen on bringing back our former striker but Hearts value the Northern Ireland international higher than our opening offer.
30-year-old Lafferty is well known at Ibrox having moved to us initially for a reported £3million fee from Burnley back in the summer of 2008. Prior to departing as a free agent in the summer of 2012, he took in 137 appearances in total for us, with a return of 38 goals.
Whilst his goal return isn’t what you’d call fantastic he did help us to three SPL titles and a Scottish Cup during his stay and it’s fair to say that although there was surprise at the news of our potential interest in him, it has split the fanbase with people having different opinions on him owing to the first spell.
The manner of his departure still rankles for some but it seems plenty are happy to forgive and forget.
Get it done @RangersFC

I wasn't keen on him during his first stint at the club but he's since matured into a very good player. Would be a great signing given cash constraints.

I don't think so. This is a wind-up isn't it. Next you'll be telling us Nasmith will be coming too. ????????

I'd welcome #Lafferty back at #Ibrox with @RangersFC. Hope it happens as the team need more depth upfront for sure. Let's pay @JamTarts a fair fee though. £200K is too low.
