Rangers linked Ivan Toney has revealed his intentions for the summer transfer window as speculation increases about his future, as reported in Football Insider.

He has apparently told friends that he intends to move on and play at a higher level as he approaches the peak years of his career.

Peterborough United have been condemned to another year in League 1 and as a result will listen to offers for the 26-goal striker as per an agreement made with him in January when Brentford were rumoured to have made an £8million bid.

Barry Fry, Posh’s Director of Football, has already claimed that both sides of the Glasgow divide are chasing Toney, although the link with Rangers appears to be the strongest with a report putting them at the head of the queue.

The bold Fry also slapped a £15m price tag on his prized asset, although revealing that he is available for transfer and approaching the last year of his contract isn’t exactly the best way to get top dollar for your players.

Football Insider also claimed that Toney could be available for a third of the fee quoted by Fry which instantly makes him more affordable for the Ibrox club, this also brings him into the price bracket of a player that could support Alfredo Morelos before replacing him as first choice when the Colombian international does eventually leave the club.

Steven Gerrard has been able to offload deadwood and replace them – whilst improving the first-team squad – with minimal outlay, and the acquisitions of Calvin Bassey and Jon McLaughlin will release funds to be prioritised on genuine quality for the first XI, quality that will be needed to finally achieve the consistency needed to not just challenge but win the Scottish Premiership title for the first time since 2011.
