Steven Gerrard has revealed that he is far from finished with this summer’s transfer business after the arrival of Jon McLaughlin to Rangers in a video-call press conference which was reported by The Daily Record.

With the arrivals of Ianis Hagi, Calvin Bassey and now McLaughlin, Gerrard has strengthened his match day squad but will now turn his attention to other targets as he looks to close the gap on Old Firm rivals, Celtic:

“I do anticipate more signings but I think we have to be patient. It’s going to be a different window, if you like, you know it could be a longer window so we need to make sure that we’re right when we do make the move and that we’re going for the right type of player.

“I don’t anticipate us making lots of signings in terms of trying to make the squad bigger or anything like that. It’s more ‘can we identify players that are going to make the 11 stronger’.”
Encouraging words for Rangers fans who will be desperate for their side to make up ground and surpass their city rivals this season.

Who will provide Rangers strips for the 2020/21 season?

They have shown in head-to-head encounters – since Gerrard arrived – that they are more than a match for Celtic but have struggled to maintain consistency throughout the course of a whole season, something that the Gers gaffer will be hoping to address before a ball is kicked in August if he is to write his name into the history books as the man to break their bitter rivals stranglehold of Scottish football.
