Gerrard will have to battle former teammate to land Rangers transfer target this summer

|

Derby County have entered the race to sign Rangers transfer target John Souttar, according to website TEAMtalk.

Steven Gerrard is said to be a fan of the Hearts defender and at the start of April was reported to be looking to sign him this summer as a replacement for Joe Worrall, who is heading back to his parent club Nottingham Forest at the end of the season.

Gerrard’s former England teammate Frank Lampard is now keen to beat him to it though, according to TEAMtalk, who say that the Hearts defender is keen on a move south.

The outlet reckon Derby could outbid the recruitment team at Ibrox and land the £5m-rated talent.

The Rams still have a chance of winning promotion to the English Premier League through the play-offs too, a level of football that would obviously be attractive to the Scottish international.

Souttar would be an impressive capture if we can pull it off, so hopefully we can convince the 22-year-old his future lies in Glasgow.
