Ryan Kent is on his way back to fitness but tomorrow will come too soon for the Englishman.

Steven Gerrard spoke about his prized asset at Rangers press conference this morning ahead of the crunch game against Hearts at Ibrox.

He does not quite have a full compliment of players to choose from but the majority of the squad are ready to rumble in what is a very important game.

The manager said regarding Kent’s situation, today:

“Ryan Kent is very close, we’re looking to have him back with the squad after the weekend for training and then we’ll obviously see how he goes from there”.

That is great positive news for all and could point to a cameo against St Mirren or Aberdeen in the coming weeks, he is unlikely to be pitched in against Brondby at Ibrox next Thursday.

In regard to Ryan Jack, “a couple of weeks” was the quote but his is a different situation and seeing is believing with everyone really keen to see the midfield man back on the pitch and displaying his ability, after what is a really important injury recovery for his Rangers future.

As for Kent, it is clear that we haven’t seen close to his best form so far this season.

Hopefully, he can return with a clear head and fresh legs to show the impact that he is renowned for.

Regardless of the reasons for his sub-par performances in the early season, he posesses a skill-set that no-one else in the team is capable of, especially for the big occasion.

A fit and firing Ryan Kent is a devastating threat in Rangers attack, the sooner he is back and firing the better.
