Thursday and Friday of this week saw a mini Steven Gerrard media fest on the Rangers Official Site.

With work for the new campaign of 2018/19 well underway, Gerrard is clearly looking to make his maiden year in management a memorable one.

We’ve seen a number of signings and a couple of departures and if the rumour mill is to be believed we certainly aren’t finished on that front as well.

This week has seen work and anticipation amongst the fanbase rise even further, especially with the release of the pre-split season fixtures, so Gerrard’s words across a variety of topics have been very well received indeed.

To read his words in full, as they span a few articles:

It Feels Great To Get Started
Gerrard Discusses Signings
This Club Is About The Fans

So to cherry-pick the bits that interested me.

With a record number of fans securing their seasonal seats for the coming year, Gerrard spoke about how it reflected the positivity currently enveloping the club and the excitement that’s on show.

That obviously means he has a certain obligation to those fans.

With a number of new recruits at the club this summer, Gerrard also explained that having assessed the squad from afar, he feels each signing offers us something new and something that will be potentially exciting as we speak further improvements
“This club is about the fans, we are aware of that, and we want to give them a team that they are proud of, an exciting team. But first and foremost the players need to understand the fans’ demands and the demands of this football club, and that’s what me and my staff will be reminding them every single day.”

With Wednesday marking his first true day at work at the Training Centre, he again said all the right things, even down to his pleasure and excitement at driving through the blue gates at Auchenhowie and how it reminds him to respect the job he’s taken on.

“There were always going to be butterflies and that level of excitement, and the summer has been long. I’ve been waiting for yesterday to come and I couldn’t wait to get in and meet all the staff around The Hummel Training Centre. We’ve been across to Ibrox today to meet all the staff that work there, so I’m really looking forward to tomorrow now and for the players to come in and to start the hard work. We’ve got to be ready and me and my staff, we’re all excited for tomorrow when reality hits home and it’s time to get to work.”
