Earlier today the all-important fixtures for the coming 2018/19 Premiership campaign were released and new manager Steven Gerrard now knows the dates of the challenges he faces in his maiden year in professional football management.

The first Old Firm of the campaign sees Rangers visit Celtic on September 1 and of course, the match takes on extra significance this time around as Gerrard pits his wits against his own former manager Brendan Rodgers given their mutual Liverpool association.
Their visit to Ibrox comes on December 29 and both games have already been selected by broadcaster Sky Sports for live coverage for obvious reasons.
Gerrard opens the season with an away trip to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen and there will be hopes of some revenge for 2017/18 as that game plays itself out and short of the Europa League adventure, this is the match everything will be focused on for the next month and a bit as we continue preparations for the season ahead.
