Gerrard drops transfer teaser as Gers look to make early additions

|

Steven Gerrard has been recognised by the League Manager’s Association for guiding Rangers to an unbeaten season in the Scottish Premiership but, in a short interview with Sky Sports, the gaffer gave away more than just his delight at receiving such an award.

Speaking on the plans for next season, Gerrard, via Sky Sports YouTube channel, also revealed that recruitment is well underway for next season given the demands that will be placed on his squad:

“We know that the league will be tougher next season.

“We need to be ready for what is coming our way, so that’s the way it always is, you can never stand still.

“For me now, the recruitment over the coming weeks and months is just as important as the previous windows, because we have to be ready for all the challenges.”

Who finished as Rangers top goal scorer this season?

Rangers have done their business early since Gerrard arrived, even more so since Ross Wilson began to over see recruitment, the clearest evidence that having an elite director of football is just as important as a competent manager. It’s one thing for a workman to blame their tools but, they also have to have the right tools for the job in the first place – something the Gers boss will be hoping is still true when the Champions League qualifiers come around.
