The Gerrards may be Liverpool through and through but Rangers now occupy a place in Steven’s heart and it looks like that feeling is showing with the rest of the family.

Little Lio Gerrard, (4) looks every bit the cool kid in his Rangers kit standing next to the Premiership trophy.

If the Gers boss remains in position until the end of his contract or thereabouts in 2024, his only son will be old enough to have some memories of family life in Glasgow, but regardless Rangers are now part of the life of – and holds deep meaning for – his dad.

Steven Gerrard elaborated on this feeling recently, as reported by BBC Sport:

“As a kid, I thought it was one club for life.”

“I’ve come through at Liverpool and had a career there which I’m immensely proud of. I came up here with my eyes wide open to learn about the club.”

“I had a good idea from the outside but this has grabbed me.”

“It’s a club like very few in the world. This has got a special place in my heart. I’m happy here.”

“I had to make a lot of sacrifices family wise, but I want more.”

Desire

The comments came as he was drenched in champagne, post trophy lift celebrations last Saturday – Gerrard is adamant that he is thirsty for more, which is exactly what the Ibrox faithful want to hear:

“I wanted to enjoy this moment because it’s been a long time since I’ve smelled this success and the Champagne.”

“I absolutely stink right now but it feels really good and I want more of it.”
