Steven Gerrard displayed the controlled aggression that he was renowned for throughout his career.

At today’s press conference, the Rangers manager was asked what he thought of Arsenal’s performance on Thursday night against Slavia Prague.

Whilst his answer was a glowing appraisal of Mikel Arteta’s side for their play on the pitch and their conduct around the game, there was also a not so subtle dig at the hosts which was very apparent.

The defining gesture from the game was Arsenal’s Alex Lacazette, ‘taking a knee’ directly in front of the Slavia players.

It was also not lost on Gerrard, who stated:

“I loved everything about the game.”

“I loved the Arsenal performance, the way they went about it.”

“I admired how they approached before the game, during the game, and after the game.”

“I’m sure Glen did as well.”
